Check-out these often free and 24/7 support services below for help with suicide, self-harm, surviving harm by others, severe mental illness, and relapse prevention for eating disorders and addiction. Along with higher levels of care for emergency, long-term, or more intensive care provider leads.
If you or someone you care for are experiencing a life threatening emergency such as a suicide attempt or overdose please call 911. Or, when time and safety allows in a mental health crisis, go to the nearest hospital emergency room or access center. See further below for Central Florida emergency and psychiatric hospitals typically receiving admissions.
Emergency Treatment
If you or someone you care about are experiencing a mental or emotional crisis, you may also choose to do the same. Or, you may benefit from free mobile crisis response units to come to you with help. These below are for those local to Central Florida, but if you live elsewhere you can likely find similar ones near you through searching terms like 'local mental health mobile crisis response team.' There are additional various 24/7 national hotlines and helplines to follow below.
Mobile Response to You
If you choose to call 911 in an emergency, you may be able to specifically request a Crisis Intervention Trained (CIT Officer) with 40+ hours of mental health training.
In Orange County, FL when you call 911, you may request the Behavioral Response Unit (BRU) with trained clinicians and law enforcement support. You can inquire if there are similar Behavioral Response units nearest you.
If you are aged birth to 24 years of age in Orange, Osceola, or Seminole County, FL, you are eligible to receive urgent therapist support for youth and young adults. This program is 24/7 Mobile Crisis Services by Devereaux who can be requested to come to you within 60 minutes.
By dialing 211 or 407-839-HELP. You can also text 898-211 your zip code and type 'requesting mobile crisis.' They inform they will help anyone who calls. You can also chat at www.HFUW.org
